Easy Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free Tofu Bites

Ingredients:

  • 1 block of firm or extra firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 1/2 cup gluten-free rice flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Press the Tofu: Press the tofu to remove excess water. You can use a tofu press or wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top. Let it press for at least 30 minutes.

  2. Prepare the Coating: In a bowl, mix the rice flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

  3. Coat the Tofu: Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes. Roll each tofu cube in the gluten-free coating mixture until well covered.

  4. Heat the Oil: In a pan, heat enough vegetable oil for frying over medium-high heat.

  5. Fry the Tofu: Carefully place the coated tofu cubes in the hot oil, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Fry until the tofu turns golden brown and crispy on all sides. This usually takes about 4-5 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove the tofu from the oil and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

  6. Season with Salt and Pepper: While the tofu is still hot, sprinkle a bit more salt and pepper over the fried cubes. You can adjust the seasoning to taste.

  7. Serve: Serve the gluten-free and dairy-free Salt and Pepper Tofu immediately. It's great on its own as a snack, appetizer, or as part of a main course with rice and vegetables.

Feel free to customize the seasoning to your liking and add a dipping sauce if desired. Enjoy your delicious gluten-free and dairy-free Salt and Pepper Tofu!
